Dear ,
Happy Mother's Day!
Today, as we celebrate the incredible women who have shaped our lives, it's a perfect moment to reflect on the origins of this special day.
Mother's Day as we know it was first celebrated in the early 20th century. The holiday was founded by Anna Jarvis in the United States, who wanted to honor her own mother, Ann Reeves Jarvis, a peace activist who cared for wounded soldiers on both sides of the American Civil War. Anna's vision was to create a day that would celebrate the sacrifices mothers made for their children.
The first
official Mother's Day was celebrated on May 10, 1908, in Grafton, West Virginia, and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The day quickly gained popularity, and by 1914, President Woodrow Wilson signed a proclamation designating Mother's Day as a national holiday to be held on the second Sunday in May.
Since then, Mother's Day has evolved into a global celebration, with various countries adopting their own traditions and dates to honor mothers.
Whether it's through gifts, flowers, or simply spending time together, the essence of the day remains the same: to express love and gratitude to the remarkable women who have nurtured and guided us.
As we celebrate today, let's take a moment to appreciate the history and significance of Mother's Day and cherish the special bonds we share with our mothers.
Wishing you a
wonderful Mother's Day filled with love and joy!
Warm regards,
Gunnar
