On October 20th, 1967 Roger Patterson and Bob Gimlin captured what many believe to be a female Bigfoot in Northern California. 57 years later it still stands as the best footage ever captured. Do you agree?
Tales from the Woods
My friend Larry and had were out placing a parabolic dish hooked to a recorder in our research area one night. As we left the camping area and headed up the north fork of the trail I heard a clear whistle from what would have been the south fork of the same trail.
As we walked up the dark trail Larry heard
a second whistle from a second location. Without thinking too much about it we went off trail a bit to put up the parabolic dish.
As we were doing so, I heard a weird percussive sound coming from what seemed like southeast of us. We paused and listened and the best way I could describe it would be like when someone has the bass turned all the way up on their car stereo. The thing was, we
weren't hearing any cars, just the weird sound.
We finished up and made our way back to the trail. I suggested that we turn off our lights just to see what happened. We then heard the percussive sound, but now it seemed like it was more directly east of us...like it was now on the same trail we stood on.
Now Larry is the consummate outdoorsman, but he turned his headlamp on and I noticed he had his hand on his gun (I wasn't carrying one). He said "We need to get out of here" and we proceeded down the trail.
The whole way back to the camp site that sound followed us, always seeming to be bout the same distance up the trail from us and out of the range of my flashlight.
What I didn't discover until later was Larry heard a similar percussive sound coming from what seemed to be the south fork of the trail (the trail where I heard the whistle as we left camp).
To this day I have no idea what it was, but it was not the only time we experienced whistles in the camp at night.
Have you ever had a super strange experience in the woods that you can't explain?
